Is there an age requirement to join the squad?
Yes. All applicants must be at least 16 years old to apply for cadet membership to the squad, and atleast 18 years old to apply for full membership to the squad. Applicants do not need to be a resident of Roseland, but they must be within a reasonable responding distance to the first aid squad as to be determined by the line officers.
Do I need to have previous experience in order to join the squad?
No. Not at all. The squad will provide all the necessary training at no expense to you!
How much time do I need to volunteer to the squad?
Each member (18+) volunteers at least one 12 hour shift per week and one 24 hour weekend shift per 6 weeks. Some members volunteer to ride more than one 12 hour shift per week, based on their availability.
What kind of training will I receive if I join?
- AHA CPR Certification
- Emergency Medical Technician-Basic (EMT)
- Ambulance Driver
- Crew Chief
Will I have to buy my own uniforms and equipment?
No. You will be issued the following:
- Royal Blue Squad Jumpsuit
- Blue Collared
- Button-down Dress Shirt
- BDU Dress Pants
- RFAS Patrol Cap
- Reversable Spring Jacket
- A winter jacket
- Summer Polo Shirt
- Turn-out gear
- Pager/Handheld Radio
What kind of accomodations do members have access to?
Members have unlimited access to our headquarters which is secured with a keyless entry system. Members also have access to a spacious family room with three full-size couches, a 55" flat screen television with surround sound speakers. There is also an eat-in kitchen. Two bathrooms for both male and females with a full-size shower stall. In addition, there is a spacious meeting room and communications center with free internet access.
